Could you imagine living and working in a late-Baroque castle outside of Stuttgart in Southwestern Germany for three months? Our first Solitude-Hybrid-fellow Katrin Wolf definitely can. On October 1, she left the Doctoral Graduate School at Telekom Innovation Laboratories of the TU Berlin where she is obtaining her Ph.D. in Human-Computer Interaction in order to continue her research at Akademie Schloss Solitude. With her three-month guest residency, the cooperation between Solitude and Hybrid Plattform is coming alive. It is one of three parts of our collaboration that junior researchers (scholars, scientists, engineers) get the chance to be part of the Solitude network.
Akademie Schloss Solitude is a renowned foundation under public law that offers an interdisciplinary and international fellowship program for artists, scholars and scientists – and, since 2011, even for chess players. Since 1990, the Akademie has supported artists in various disciplines with fellowships (including a combined apartment/ studio, a monthly stipend, a project promotion subsidy, etc.). Young scholars from the science and business sectors are likewise eligible for fellowships within the “art, science & business” program. Since 2002, this program aims at promoting a dialog between the fields of art, science, and business. Akademie Schloss Solitude is dedicated to create spaces for multidisciplinary encounters of various individuals, enabling intensive reflection and new creative approaches.
Sound familiar? This is also exactly Hybrid Plattform’s fundamental principle. Thus the idea to closely work together and benefit from each other’s experience and networks came up. In addition to Solitude’s offer of guest residencies for Hybrid researchers within the “art, science & business” program, the cooperation conceives of common projects and events. Currently we are preparing the next Hybrid Talks on “Performance of Work” which will be hosted together – more on this event soon. We are truly happy about this collaboration and excited about all the possibilities for further projects. So stay tuned and follow our next steps with this new cooperation partner!
