The Sophtar: a networkable feedback string instrument with embedded machine learning

The artist and scientist Federico Visi is presenting his new project at the Long Night of Science:

The Sophtar is a new electro-acoustic string instrument with an integrated computer for digital signal processing, networking and machine learning. Dr Federico Visi developed the instrument as part of his research in the field of networked music performance with hyper-organs and machine learning models. The performance will be accompanied by a presentation of the instrument, including both technical details and a discussion on how to perform in what Visi calls the "indeterminate place".
