The term “simulation” comprises a wide range of associations and approaches. Concepts such as illusion or – in a more positive sense – imitation and performance come quickly to mind. The word refers to a method for analyzing systems but can also apply to a new type of experience through digital means. At Hybrid Talks XXX we will examine these aspects of simulation in the context of the theatre, mathematics, philosophy, virtual reality, storytelling and cultural sciences.
Following speakers will address the topic (lectures in German language):
- »From mathematical modeling, simulation and optimization to data Science«
Prof. Dr. Gitta Kutyniok
TU Berlin | Applied functional analysis - »Contagious Pro-treating - About the Benefits of Fiction«
Prof. Dr. Thomas Düllo
UdK Berlin | Corporate and Business Communications - »On interactive storytelling«
Sven Haeberlein
Agentur Trotzkind - »Authentic simulations: paradox of the representation in the theater«
Prof. Dr. Barbara Gronau
UdK Berlin | Theory and History of the Theater - »Living in and with simulations«
Prof. Dr. Axel Gelfert
TU Berlin | Theoretical Philosophy
The Hybrid Talks aim at promoting mutual inspiration and invite networking. Representatives of different disciplines encounter each other and share their perspectives on the topic “Simulation” through short 10 minute presentations. After the presentations we will continue our exchange across individual disciplines in a relaxed atmosphere.
The Hybrid Talks are a conversation format initiated by the Hybrid Plattform, an cross-disciplinary project platform in the heart of the Campus Charlottenburg, Berlin.
Here you can find the documentation of the Hybrid Talks.
