Hybrid Lab, TU Berlin, Marchstraße 8, 10587 Berlin *NEW LOCATION*

Computing has become increasingly important in nearly all areas of design; not to be imagined without it are simulations, analysis, synthesis and people-centered design algorithms. In computational design, science and art come together in the manifold processes of creation and development, production and evaluation, as well as presentation and aesthetic expression. However, the associated changes are not limited to the work process; they are also reflected in the results such as new digital services and products. Current research exploits the potential of computational design and its tools that surpass traditional methods and design environments.

The 20th Hybrid Talks present snapshots from this ongoing development in the fields of architecture and media/ computational art at the TU Berlin and the UdK Berlin.

On this occasion, Hybrid Lab’s new location will be opened to the public. The addresses of welcome are by Vice President for research, faculty appointment matters and promotion of young scientists of the TU Berlin, Prof. Dr.-Ing. Christine Ahrend, and President of the UdK Berlin, Prof. Martin Rennert.

There will be the contributions by

  • “Materiality and Notation: Buildings as Theoretical Objects”
    Prof. Dr. Jörg H. Gleiter

    TU Berlin | Architectural Theory

  • “Designing with the Climate – Integrating Analysis in Multi-scalar Design Processes”
    Prof. Sven Pfeiffer

TU Berlin | Digital Architectural Production

  • “‘Building information modeling’ and the Mesh of Changes Within and Without Technology”
    Prof. Dr. Nathalie Bredella

    UdK Berlin | Architectural History

  • “Figuration vs Configuration, please, mind the gap!”
    Prof. Dr. Ignacio Borrego

TU Berlin | Architectural Representation and Design
    (in English)

  • “Reflecting Computational Design”
    Hon. Prof. Jussi Ängeslevä

    UdK Berlin | New Media
    (in English)

The Hybrid Talks aim at promoting mutual inspiration and networking. After the presentations, we will continue our exchange across individual disciplines in a relaxed atmosphere.
