The two-day workshop "Designing inter- and transdisciplinary research. On potentials and approaches of cross-border work between science, technology, art and society" will take place for the fifth time on October 26th and 27th, 2021 and is a cooperation between the Central Institution Scientific education and cooperation (ZEWK), Hybrid Plattform and Center Technology and Society (ZTG).
Starting point
Researchers and artists are increasingly called upon to actively participate in solving societal problems. Funders therefore explicitly call for inter- and transdisciplinary approaches and collaborations. However, collaboration beyond the boundaries of one's own discipline is by no means a self-evident or simple undertaking. New concepts and approaches are needed to successfully bring together different fields of knowledge and approaches.
Goal
The workshop provides theoretical foundations and tests methodological approaches for the successful realization of cross-border projects. The goal is a systematic examination, reflection and sensitization based on tasks and challenges that arise in the design of inter- and transdisciplinary processes across the fields of science, technology, art and society.

Locating transdisciplinary research in science and the science system Art & Science Collaborations and New Research Formats (Citizen Science, Reallabs, etc.)Problem Constitution and Project Initiation Participation and Knowledge Integration Project phases and their challenges, project management and methods Results and impacts Transferability and knowledge transfer Methods Theoretical inputs, individual and group exercises to test transdisciplinary methods using projects as examples. Own project ideas are welcome.

Notes
The course is a cooperation between ZEWK, Hybrid Plattform and ZTG. It is embedded in the transdisciplinary strategy of the TU presidium. The course is aimed at research assistants, PhD students, post-docs, newly appointed professors as well as project and network coordinators of the TU Berlin and opens (free) places for members of the UdK Berlin. A one-day follow-up for the deepening of selected contents.
The workshop is conducted by Nina Horstmann (Hybrid Plattform of the TU Berlin and the UdK Berlin), Emilia Nagy (Center for Technology and Society, TU Berlin). They each have extensive experience with inter- and transdisciplinary research collaborations.
Date: October 26/27, 2020, respectively 9:00 a.m. – 13:00 p.m.
